What are the benefits of soy wax candles?

Soy Wax is non-toxic and cleaner-burning, being made with no toxins, carcinogens, or pollutants which means our products are less likely to trigger allergies. As a vegetable-based wax, it does not give off any harmful byproducts or produce black soot that can stain walls and curtains like the other leading waxes.

Soy wax has a lower melting point than paraffin wax and because of this, soy candles will burn slower and longer than paraffin candles. Oils evaporate better from a larger surface area and with the lower heat and larger melt pool soy wax creates a scent that will be that much stronger and more pleasant.

Soy wax is easier to clean as it is biodegradable. It can be easily cleaned up with soap and water.

Soy Wax is Natural, Renewable and Vegan derived from the soybean. This wax is a hydrogenated vegetable oil that turns into a solid at room temperature.

Why does my candle top look bumpy?

It's quite common for soy candles to exhibit cracks or develop rough tops after burning. This is a natural occurrence that is associated with soy wax. The occurrence arises because the hot wax cools at varying rates, resulting in these surface irregularities. Importantly, this is a positive indicator that your candle is made from 100% natural organic soy wax without any added waxes or additives.

How do I light my candle?

The initial burn of a candle, especially when the wick has never been lit before, can be a bit trickier. A useful technique is to tilt the candle at an angle and allow the flame to draw across the entire length of the wick. When lighting the candle for the first time, it's essential to let it burn until the wax melts and covers the entire surface. This practice helps prevent tunneling and ensures an even burn throughout the candle's lifespan.

What happens if I don't trim the wick?

Leaving a candle wick long can result in a larger flame, causing more wax to melt and providing the candle with an excessive amount of fuel. This abundance of fuel can lead to incomplete combustion, subsequently generating more soot that can blacken and soil the candle container. It can also reduce the overall lifespan of your candle compared to our estimated burning time, which has been carefully calculated based on properly trimmed wicks. To ensure optimal candle performance, always refer to our provided burning instructions before lighting your candles.

My container candle is tunnelling, what should I do?

To address tunneling in your candle, you can take the following steps: Cover the candle's top with aluminum foil, leaving a roughly 1-inch wide opening or a size that allows the foil to remain above the candle's surface. Light the candle with care and allow it to burn for a few hours. After this initial burn, you should notice that the tunneling is less significant. This is due to candles having a "wax memory."

It's crucial, especially during the first burn, to let the candle burn until the wax melts across the entire surface. This practice not only prevents tunneling but also ensures an even burn throughout the candle's lifespan.

Can I burn my sculptural pillar candles?

While our sculptural candles are primarily designed for decorative purposes, if you do decide to light them, please be aware that burn times may vary due to the irregular shapes and sizes of our designs.

How does a sculptural candle burn?

Sculptural candles are the total opposite of jar candles. In sculptural candles, the candle itself serves as both the artwork and the vessel, resulting in a distinctive burning experience. The flame is intended to create a hollow space within the candle, and the extent of hollowness can vary across our diverse designs.

Is it normal that my sculptural candle has wax drips?

Yes, wax drip is a normal and expected occurrence when using sculptural candles. After the wax has cooled, you can easily remove any excess wax from your tray or candle holder. We recommend consulting our provided burning instructions before lighting your candles to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

I accidentally cut my wick too short and now it won't light, what do I do?

Don't worry; this situation can happen to anyone! If you find that your candle only lights for a brief period, a quick fix is to use a napkin to absorb some of the excess melted wax. This should help restore its normal burning pattern. If your candle isn't lighting at all, you can try scraping away a bit of the wax around the wick and then attempt to light it again. The wax serves as the fuel for the wick, and sometimes there's an excess of fuel preventing the candle from igniting properly.

Is it normal that my sculptural candle might have some imperfections?

Since our sculptural candles are meticulously handmade and poured by hand, it's important to note that they may exhibit slight imperfections and natural color variations. Additionally, you might observe small white marks referred to as 'frosting.' These characteristics are part of the inherent charm of handcrafted candles and contribute to their unique appeal.

Tell me more about 'frosting'?

On occasion, candles may develop frosting, a natural occurrence that is more common in soy wax candles and particularly in colored ones. This happens as the wax seeks to revert to its natural state, leading to the formation of crystalline patterns. It's important to understand that frosting is purely cosmetic and does not impact the candle's performance in any way.

Wax Melts

What is a wax melt?

Wax melts are wick-less scented pieces of wax that are melted in an electric or tea light warmer, the perfect alternative to candles. The warmer heats and melts the sold wax releasing a strong aroma.

What are the benefits of soy wax melts?

Soy Wax is non-toxic and cleaner-burning being made with no toxins, carcinogens, or pollutants which means our wax melts are less likely to trigger allergies. As a vegetable-based wax, it does not give off any harmful byproducts or produce black soot that can stain walls and curtains like the other leading waxes.

How do I use a wax melt?

If using one of our snap bars, snap off your desired amount and place in your warmer. The heat will melt the wax, filling your space with your chosen scent. We recommend using 1-4 squares, our snap bars have 5-10 squares (depending on the style). This should be approximately 60 hours of burn time. For our specialty wax melts, simply take a few pieces and place them directly in your warmer. All of our wax melts can be used with both electric and tea light burners - tea light burners will throw a stronger scent. However many customers say they cannot tell a difference!

How long do wax melts last?

Snap bar wax melts have a total burn time between 50-60 hours. Each segment of the five segment snap bars has a burn time between 10-12 hours.

Each package of our specialty wax melts have a total burn time between 70-80 hours dependant on the size of each piece.

How often should I change the wax in wax my warmer?

It is recommended to change out your wax melts once the fragrance is gone. This can be after 5-8 hours of use for lower quality products with less fragrance throw. Or after 12-18 hours for high-quality melts like Allures'.

What wax melter should I use?

What wax melter should I use?

In general there are two different types of wax warmers; tea light and electric ones. One requires the heat from the tea light candle to warm up the wax and the other uses electricity or a lightbulb to produce heat

Check out our selection of wax melters that can be used with all of our soy wax melts.

Do wax melts evaporate?

Wax melts do not evaporate like a candle would. Once you can no longer smell the scent dispose of the wax as per your local guidelines. Never pour melted wax down a sink / plug hole.

How do you remove wax melts?

Our preferred way of removing wax is slightly heating it for no more than 15 seconds and then pushing it slightly and it will pop out very easily, then it can be disposed of as per your local guidelines.

Or

Placing it in the freezer for approximately 10 minutes until the wax hardens off the warmer dish then pushing it slightly and it will pop out very easily and be disposed of as per your local guidelines.

If using water to clean your burner - ensure the burner is throughly dry before using it again.

Always remove any residue before changing to a different scent.

How do you clean a warmer dish?

If you don't want to risk touching the wax with your bare hands, then try the cotton ball method instead. Just grab two cotton balls and drop them into the liquid wax.

Once the cotton balls have soaked up all the wax, grab more cotton balls and use them to wipe your dish clean. You can do this same method but with a paper towel.

Can I reuse wax melts?

Wax melts are reusable up until their smell is gone. You can continuously heat your wax warmer and use the same melts for hours to enjoy their scent. The fragrance will slowly start to fade with use until you can no longer smell it anymore. Once the smell is gone, it's time for a new wax melt.
